Yuka Saso Heats Up at the LPGA Ford Championship
Yuka Saso is back in the hunt at the LPGA Ford Championship. After a slow start in the first round, Saso bounced back in a big way on Friday, shooting a sizzling 63 to move into contention.
Saso Struggles Early
Saso’s opening round was not her best. She struggled with her accuracy off the tee and her putting wasn’t sharp. An early bogey set the tone for the day, and she could never quite find her rhythm. Saso finished the first round with a one-over-par 73, leaving her well off the pace.
Stellar Second Round Propels Saso Up the Leaderboard
However, Saso showed her resilience on Friday. She dialed in her irons and started finding fairways with more consistency. Her putting stroke also came alive, as she sank several long birdie putts. The highlight of her round was an eagle on the par-five 15th hole. Saso’s 63 was one of the lowest scores of the day, and it vaulted her up the leaderboard.
Yuka Saso in Contention
With her impressive second-round performance, Saso is now tied for sixth place at 133 strokes. She is just three strokes behind leader Hannah Green, who carded a bogey-free 61 on Friday. The tournament is wide open, and Saso is definitely a player to watch.
Other Contenders
While Saso is making a charge, there are several other golfers in the mix. Lexi Thompson and Minjee Lee are tied for second place at 131 strokes. Jennifer Kupcho and Nelly Korda are also lurking just a few shots back.
Pagdanganan Misses Cut
Unfortunately, Bianca Pagdanganan will not be playing in the weekend rounds. She missed the cut by one stroke after shooting a 74 on Friday.
Looking Ahead
The LPGA Ford Championship is shaping up to be an exciting finish. Saso is in contention, and she will be looking to build on her momentum in the final two rounds. With several other talented international golfers in the mix, the winner is anyone’s guess.
